Urban Ruins x 2

Here's the info on my last 2 builds prior to the fenced in storage lot. Both were actually spur of the moment, I feel like throwing something together builds.

Some pics that are closest to the state these are currently in:

The ruined apartment / office building started like this with me randomly PVA-ing foam insulation to my 9x9 inch MDF base:

And the more ancient looking, rough-hewn block building looked like this after randomly attaching foam to the MDF and inflicting "damage." This is ALL offcuts I was trying to use to clean up a bit and involved very little cutting/shaping.

Next for the apartment building I did the same thing. Cutting it up more and randomly damaging it as I went and before long I had this:

Then I did my standard coating of pre-mixed lightweight spackle in various consistencies from full strength to heavily thinned with water on both sanding them smooth after they were dry.

After that rubble and dirt were added before basecoating everything with spray primer

The next step was laying down the base colour and painting

I tried to use some crackle medium (Kroma) to simulate water damage to the walls in a few places. Think I went to small and too thin as the effect was waayy more subtle than I wanted.

This is where I stopped before settling in and figuring out what I wanted to do - leave it or thry to weather it. Looking a bit cartoony/80's Ninja Turtle-y to me here but maybe it's just the colour, or just me. Thoughts?

And the other build progressed

Here's a few final pics (for now) of the final results of my attempts at detailing/weathering.

Overall, I'm still learning and every build really helps me to see things I hate, or should have done differently and things I need to focus on to improve.

In closing, these 2 were both pretty easy.
The apartment was done start to finish, working a couple of hours after work for about 5-6 days and was completed within 1 week (that's with me actually at home and with much of that time spent waiting for PVA / paint / etc. to dry).
The other build was a couple of hours a night again for about 3 evenings and again, much of that time was for drying.

If you stuck with me, thanks and kudos to you :-)
